From the start Shebbear were on the attack and Jude performed some great saves. Archie and Danny battled well in defence, but Shebbear scored their first goal. Jake was substituted for Jacob due to injury and Jacob showed fantastic commitment and a really positive attitude from the start giving 100% at all times. Shebbear continued to attack and Josh and Neil showed great confidence heading the ball on several occasions, however Shebbear went 2 – 0 up after an own goal by Danny following a scramble in the defending area. Despite a great run from Max and several more superb saves from Jude, Braunton went 3 – 0 down just before half time.
In the second half the line up for Braunton changed. Josh moved to right wing and Jacob to left wing. Max and Cato were substituted. Sam came on at right back and Danny moved up front to support Neil as striker. Jake came back on the pitch in midfield. Braunton immediately showed a much more positive, fighting spirit and began to dominate the game. A great run by Jacob on the left wing led to a fantastic header by Danny to set up Neil for a brilliant strike into the top corner showing great composure. Braunton continued to control the second half with a super header by Josh and more great runs up the wing by Jacob. Archie was consistently solid at the back and Sam covered well and tackled with much greater confidence. Josh was substituted following a hamstring injury and Max replaced him. Jude continued to play confidently in goal, and Max was replaced by Cato – again due to injury. Another goal from Shebbear did not deter Braunton who following a great clearance from Sam, and some great passing from Danny and Archie created an opportunity for Cato to score a superb goal with his right foot taking the score to 2 – 4. Ben tackled superbly in the centre and shortly afterwards Danny scored a fantastic goal, taking advantage of the goalkeeper being off his line, he calmly lobbed the ball over his head to take to the score to 3 – 4. Sam was a real threat in defence, putting the Shebbear attack under pressure and putting in several hard tackles. Despite a great effort form the whole team the final score was 3 – 4 to Shebbear.
PLAYER OF MATCH: Danny Mulford
WHAT WORKED WELL: Second half – positive attitude. Formation in the second half much stronger. Clearing ball from defence better. Strike rate from shooting opportunities.

First Half:
Very windy conditions, Braunton playing downhill with the wind.
Good effort from Ben Brocklehurst shot just past post. Neil Somerville completed great run past 3 players, and Danny had a superb half in goal saving numerous powerful attempts from Appledore and a brave save in a one on one situation. A great goal kick from Danny Mulford led to one touch from Jacob Hohl to put Braunton 1 up. Shortly after, a great interception from resulted in Braunton’s second goal. Max was then substituted for David due to injury. Facing the keeper at a goal kick resulted in another interception from Neil to score the 3rd. A disallowed goal from Neil from a free kick proceeded a 4th goal scored by Jake. A near miss from David who hit the post was picked up by Ben who scored number 5 for Braunton, closely followed by a ricocheted save from a shot from Jacob, that was followed up and scored by Neil for the 6th goal. Joseph Dokarka and Archie Davis played an excellent half defending really well, and some excellent runs were made by Cato, Max and David on the wings.
Second Half
Sam Guard replaced Joseph and had a stunning half, covering on several occasions and persistently stopping Appledore’s attack. Neil Somerville replaced Danny Mulford in goal, and Danny went on to score 2 more goals for Braunton during the half, one of which was a great shot into the top corner of the net. Braunton showed greater confidence, passing the ball more often and playing really well together as a team. Jacob Hohl had several shots saved as did David, and Cato narrowly missed a volley from a great cross from David.
Player Of The Match: Cato
What Worked Well: Kept shape really well, spreading out and using wings. Covered really well in defence and Jake and Ben rotated superbly in centre. All attacked ball from start to finish and gave 100%.
