Barnstaple Youth 2 v 0 Braunton – 30/10/2011 – League

Appledore 1 v 17 Braunton – 23/10/2011 – Cup

First game for a couple of weeks due to postponed games this is a team from Division Two so not too sure what to expect. The game started and we score within two minutes and it kept rain goals. There was great shooting, great team goals great free kick and some well taken goals with both feet from all. It was 11-1 at half time, second half started with Goalie coming out and four changes. Much the same as the first half with more goals.

Braunton 8 v 0 South Molton – 02/10/2011 – League

There were more changes to the team this week due players away. It was a chance to use the squad on a hot day at Lobb in October. Not too sure how this would go. We started really well with some early chances then Bob scored 1 – 0. With some great play by our boys we should have scored more goals before Alfie scored a great goal with a right foot shot, now we are on top with Jake scoring the third soon after. With Charlie Crane making his first start the boys kept passing the ball to him to score but he was out of luck and could not find the net. The fourth goal was scored by Bob who was having a great game. Jake then broke though to score his second to make it 5 – 0. At the start of the second half Levi came out of goal to be replaced by Charlie Crane. We start on the front foot straight away with Alfie scoring a great right foot strike 6 – 0. With the game sewn up we make changes bringing on players to get first team experience. So with lots of new faces in the team it takes time to gel. Bob then scores goal number seven to get his first hat-trick of the season. With more and more chances created we should have scored more but could not find the net. With time running out Levi broke though the defence and scored a great goal putting the ball in the bottom corner.

Man of the match Bob Whittaker

Fremington 2 v 8 Braunton  - 25/09/2011 – Cup

We had to make changes to the team for this game Leon came in for Finn. This was the first game with no wind and we made a great start with a couple of early shots on target without any joy, then the ball came out of the area to Jordan in the middle of the pitch and with one touch he hit it right back into the net – 1 – 0 . The next goal came from a goalmouth scramble. The ball came to Jake whose shot was put in by Alfie 2 – 0. Fremington then got a free kick, a great strike made it 2 – 1. With our next attack Carter scored a great goal plucking the ball out of the air. The second half started and we had to make early changes due to injuries. Fremington started on the front foot looking to get back into the game. We had to make another change bringing on Charlie Crane for his first team debut. With his extra drive we started to get back at them. The first goal in the second half was a great strike from Tommy from the edge of the area 4 – 2 then within a minute Tommy scored his second this time with his head 5 – 2. Some great work by Charlie set up our sixth goal which was scored by Alfie 6 – 2. With both teams starting to feel the pace it was more and more counter-attacking by both teams. Then the ball broke to Jordan who scored the seventh 7 – 2 and then Jake McPhail who completed the scoring. This was a great win by the boys.

Man of the match - Carter Ward

Bideford Blues 1 v 2 Braunton  - 18/09/2011 – League

Another windy day at Sandymere. We started with the same team as last game. Straight from the kick off we go on the attack only to be stopped by the keeper. With the whole team playing nice football we had to score but the keeper kept us out even though we had six shots on target. Alfie, Finn and Bob Carter all tried to score but just could not find the net. With Jake and Alex keeping the opposition at bay Tom and Jordan kept good shape to support when needed. Then with some good build up the ball got to Bob for him to turn his man and put it past the keeper at last 1 – 0.Then with a long ball over the top which was wind assisted they made it 1 – 1. Then a great run by Jordan down the wing with a great cross and a great header by Carter for the second only to be ruled out for offside but clearly the ref had made a bad call as the ball had come backward. The second half was just like the first with more shots on target resulting in more saves -  is it going to be one of those days? No it was not our second goal was scored by Carter. With the wind making it harder to play we held out for the win.

Man of the match – Jake McPhail

Braunton 0 v 1 Barnstaple Youth – 11/09/2011 – League

This was a game that the wind was going to make hard for both teams. Some early breaks by Barnstaple did not come to much has we defended really well. Alfie and Finn linked well in the first half trying to kept the ball down. With the wind Barnstaple had most of the ball and then with a bit of outstanding play by a Barnstaple lad with an over head kick we went one down. The rest of the half was played in the middle of the pitch. The second half was a lot better with both Carter and Bobby getting down the line and getting the ball into the box. We had both Tommy and Jordan breaking from deep and Jake and Alex dominating the middle of the pitch it was only time before we scored. Corner after corner we tried to score with no luck then we had a freekick just outside the box Alfie stepped up to take it. A brilliant strike top corner only for the goalies hand stopping it, brilliant save. We then went at them Jake was through one on one with the keeper great low shot only to be saved again. One of those days, great second half by us great second half by their keeper.

Man Of The Match - Alfie Denham
